No Regrets
Technical Sessions#6
Soccer City FC caught up with Daniel Stratford tonight after his selection in the 2008 MLS Supplemental Draft. Stratford was selected in the 2nd round with the twenty-fourth overall pick by D.C. United. The midfielder spoke about the selection.
“I am very excited. For me personally, it is the optimum location being about two and half hours away from West Virginia University. I have been to DC before and I must admit that it was my favorite city in the States. D.C. United is a fantastic side and I am looking forward to the experience and the opportunity.”
Looking back at his performance during the MLS Combine, Stratford had no regrets.
“I was pleased to be honest. I felt that I was one of the players who had maybe less exposure during the season. I knew that I had to go there and make the most of the opportunity. I was pleased with the way I played. I didn’t have any regrets. I was disappointed not to go last week in the first four rounds, but going in the supplemental is still great news. I have an opportunity to pursue a professional career.”
Finally, he spoke about his goals heading into D.C. United’s preseason camp which begins on January 28.
“I have my foot in the door now. I have the opportunity. I need to take it one step further. Getting to the combine was one accomplishment. The second one was getting selected by DC and the third will be staying there. I have to make the most of the opportunity I have in the preseason. I have to try and cement a place on the roster.”

Let's gooooo Mountaineers!
Big question for DC United fans is… Does he have a green card? Because we're just about out of foreign player spots.
Not positive, but you'd think he would have to having gone to college here for 4 years.
