El Hadj Cisse was selected by
Chivas USA with the 37th pick in the 2008 Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft. Born in the Ivory Coast, Cisse came to the United States at age fourteen. While living in New York City, he attended the prestigious LaSalle Academy. His performances with LaSalle and the New York Freedoms brought him exposure and acclaim.

After high school, he competed at North Carolina State University. With the WolfPack, El Hadj Cisse started every game in his collegiate career. He played defensive midfield, attacking midfield, and forward. His versatility will be useful as he competes for a roster spot this preseason which begins on February 4. He kindly spoke with Soccer City FC before leaving for California.

Cisse commented on his upcoming opportunity with Chivas USA.

“I am ready to give them what they need from me and try my best to make the roster. Going to a big team like Chivas USA, I know that there is a lot of pressure on me. I will try my best.”

He talked about his eagerness to experience California having spent the majority of his time in the US on the East Coast.

“I am looking forward to the West Coast's climate and the environment.”

El Hadj Cisse concluded our interview with a focused and determined message.

“I want to play at the highest level. I want to show that I can do what they ask of me.”
