The Dutch Defense Exposed By Andrei Arshavin

Russian playmaker Andrei Arshavin is on the verge of superstardom. First, he lead his club Zenit St. Petersburg to the 2008 UEFA Cup victory. Now, he has ignited the Russian attack since returning from suspension. In the second fifteen-minute period, he set up Russia's second goal and scored the third as Russia defeated the Netherlands 3-1. The team will face tomorrow's Italy/Spain winner in the semi-finals.

As Soccer City FC
noted earlier this month, Premiership teams are lining up to bid for Arshavin. Journalist Martin Rogers recently wrote a top-notch article on Andrei found here. His piece focuses on how the playmaker has caught the eye of the Premiership, but it also reports that the Oil company behind Zenit could realistically match any offer coming in. Good stuff.

Andrei Arshavin kills any hope of a Dutch comeback with Russia's third goal.
