A Glance At Bolivia's Most Prosperous Clubs

As Aurora at last emerged from the shadow of their Cochabamba rivals Wilstermann in 2008 by accomplishing their first league triumph in the Bolivian closing championship and can face up to the prospect of entertaining Gremio in this season's Copa Libertadores, we take a closer look at the nation's most successful domestic clubs.


Bolivar are rightfully perched as the dominant force of Bolivian football having won 15 out of the 38 championships since 1977 but their last taste of victory came almost three years ago - a period which has since witnessed the birth of three new champions in the form of Universitario de Sucre, Real Potosi and of late Aurora. In fact none of Bolivia's principal clubs have experienced any joy recently as Bolivar, The Strongest and Oriente Petrolero have fallen victim to a barren title run in recent tournaments.
