After ten matches, Paraguay leads CONMEBOL's qualification group with 23 points. With away matches in Round 11 (Uruguay) and Round 12 (Ecuador), Gerardo Martino's squad must continue to play inspired soccer.
A combination of a win and a draw at Montevideo in late March and Quito in early April should see La Albirroja all but qualify for the 2010 World Cup. If not, matches with lower-level squads Bolivia, Columbia, and Venezuela remain.
The group's top four teams qualify automatically for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the 5th placed team faces CONCACAF's 4th placed team from the Hexagonal in a two-legged playoff for the right to go to South Africa.
