Bolton Wanderers: Kevin Davies - Premiership Player of the Year?

Kevin Davies, an industrious striker, really carried his club like no other player in the Premiership during the 2008-09 campaign. He started 37 league matches, came on as substitute in another and netted 12 goals for Bolton. He also committed a remarkable 110 fouls yet only received 4 yellow cards. Efficient in the form of 27.5 fouls per card. Known for his ability in the air, his unselfishness, and his canny knack of holding the ball and then making the precise pass, I also would like to note his leadership skills which I believe he brought to the forefront in '08-09.

Bolton finished 13th, seven points above the drop and Davies was an integral part in the club's respectable finish.

Dare I say that Davies, with his tireless work-rate and impressive strike-rate, was the Premiership Player of the Year outside of the Big 4?
