Sampdoria: Transfer Rumours -- Homecoming For Celtic's Donati?
Former Italian U-21 international Massimo Donati is realising his dream to return back to his native Serie A will, in all probability, materialise this summer as Sampdoria head the list of interested clubs. Donati made the switch to the Scottish capital to compete in the famous green-and-white hoops of Celtic, whom relinquished £3 million to acquire his services back in 2007, but the Sedegliano-born midfielder had nose-dived in both the short and long-term tactics of Gordon Strachan.
As Celtic failed in their eminent chase for a fourth successive championship, Strachan handed in his resignation but it seems certain Donati will prioritise a career relaunch from the Italian peninsula rather than loiter in the waning hope that he will figure in the plans of the new management setup at Parkhead.
"We have a number of different teams interested, but Sampdoria are the most
keen. It's just a question of reaching an agreement with Celtic to
complete the transfer," spoke his agent Andrea D'Amico.
