Wenger reignites club versus country row

Having had to deal with several injuries to key players, with the loss of in-form winger Theo Walcott a particularly bad blow, Arsene Wenger could well be forgiven for reigniting the club versus country row after rumours started to circulate that Robin van Persie was all set to be picked for international duty by Holland despite barely kicking a ball for Arsenal so far this season.

With Premier League clubs paying big bucks in order to keep their top stars, and international coaches often accused of ignoring the injury risks despite warnings from their domestic clubs the battle is only likely to intensify, especially given the financial repercussions of winning the Premier League or suffering relegation.

Future injuries to key players will occur, whether they come in domestic or international games, so perhaps the most likely outcome is a test case that resolves the location in which the burden of responsibility should fall, so that national sides know that, if they fail to take adequate care of a player when they under the control of national team coaches and staff, there will be consequences.

However, for the time being, club managers can at least sit back and enjoy the fact that the November international break is still some time away, and also rest easy safe in the knowledge that this season is not one during which many of the most talented players in the league depart to foreign shores for the African Cup of Nations and this is something people who place football bets should remember.

With fans always keen to enjoy the twists and turns of the Premier League, the fact that international breaks continue to provide a real challenge to club managers and have the potential to change the momentum in the Premier League means that change won't come easily to many football fans.

Meanwhile, the Wigan betting tips suggest they side still face a relegation battle despite improving in recent weeks.
