Fergie still embarrassing himself with his petulance

Sir Alex Ferguson has had a major influence on Premier League football over the years and has also had a big say on the careers of youngsters up and down the country. However, he continues to undermine his admirable actions by refusing to let bygones be bygones by granting the BBC access to his pearls of wisdom once more.

Perhaps Fergie would attract some sympathy from long-suffering football fans if his continuing refusal to speak to the BBC was a result of the appalling quality of Match of the Day, but the fact remains that his silence is the result of an allegation made many years ago, which shows that Fergie is almost in the same boat as FIFA in getting its knickers in a twist over the fact that the UK has a free press.

With Fergie surely aware of the fact that he is an important role model to kids, and the fact that Manchester United do so much to help those who are disadvantaged (if in doubt of this, just speak to the disabled fans who found themselves taken to Moscow free of charge for the Champions League final triumph against Chelsea), it is surely time for him to act his age and start talking to the BBC once again. The Manchester United betting suggests the club will win trophies again this season, but their manager won't be getting any prizes for media relations.

However, with the Premier League still refusing to risk angering one of the league's biggest personalities, it appears that there isn't much pressure being placed on Fergie to open up communication with the BBC. As a result of this, it seems that Fergie has the perfect opportunity to end his boycott with some of his dignity still intact rather than being forced to do so by others.

Meanwhile, the Sunderland betting tips suggest the side could challenge for Europe this season.

The club has enjoyed a successful run of late and is just three points off fifth.
